Preschool

We have three different preschool options from which to choose, our default “Montessori” program, a more structured “Traditional” program, and a “Daycare” option:

Montessori & Traditional Preschool & Kindergarten Programs

Blended seamlessly in the same room, our Montessori program is more organic and less traditionally (i.e. externally) structured than the Traditional program, though the teacher keeps detailed records of her observations of each child and uses them to customize her approach. This is “default” mode, and is ideal for most children - it covers all the academics and often sees children entering kindergarten already reading and writing stories. But each family and every child is different, and some choose our more traditionally academic program. With this approach, more individual lessons are scheduled and the teacher assumes a much more traditional role. The spontaneity lost as a result is relatively minor. Ask us for more information!

Daycare Program

“Daycare” refers to the price; there is certainly no dearth of academics among students in our daycare program. Blended seamlessly in the same room as our Montessori & Traditional programs, our Daycare students participate fully in all group lessons and activities (art, science, social studies, music, etc.) and receive lessons on all the equipment (academic, sensorial, and practical life – see The Montessori Environment). These students are fully involved in everything we do, and receive 1:1 help; the only difference is that teachers do not specifically monitor academic progress to customize 1:1 lessons for them. By kindergarten, most of our “Daycare” students end up making healthy headway into the first grade curriculum offered by traditional schools. Ask us for more information!
