As students mature and academic subjects become more advanced, children naturally gravitate towards more scheduled academics. Based on how each individual is unfolding, and according to parental preferences, we gradually move from a more organic approach (some schedules) to more structure. The “typical” young elementary student (1st – 3rd grade) has some lessons scheduled each day. (These vary from larger groups in areas such as science lab, music, art, language, drama, cooking, social studies, etc., to individual or small group lessons to cover concepts in reading, writing, and math.) But this age most children usually benefit from large blocks of flexibility to soar with their interests - as long as they are keeping pace with their customized weekly or daily goals.
Elementary Hands-on Science & Project Adventure: Every class from 1st grade through high school has an incredible weekly, hands-on science lab. During the nice fall and spring weather, each of these classes has a unique project adventure (ropes, rock board, and zip line) session. Please see our “Science” and “Project Adventure” slide shows!
